PDFPlunkett Cooney attorneys among Michigan ‘Super Lawyers’ 2009
Michigan Super Lawyers magazine recently named 29 attorneys from Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest full-service law firms, to its 2009 list of “Super Lawyers.”
The designation is based on statewide balloting by Michigan attorneys, research conducted by Law & Politics magazine, which publishes Michigan Super Lawyers magazine, and a peer review process that encompasses 60 different practice areas. Those named to the list represent only five percent of the state’s licensed practitioners.
Mary Massaron Ross, Plunkett Cooney’s Appellate Law Practice Group Leader, received special recognition by the magazine for the third consecutive year when she was included among the top 100 attorneys statewide and the top 50 women lawyers. In addition to being an a member of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, Massaron Ross was recognized last year as a “Lawyer of the Year” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly for her work with national and state appellate bar groups. She serves as a National Director of DRI – The Voice of the Defense Bar, a member of the firm’s Board of Directors, First Chair of the Michigan Supreme Court Historical Society Advocates Guild and Co-Chair of the Michigan Appellate Bench Bar Conference Foundation.
Also receiving special recognition by the magazine was Robert G. Kamenec, Plunkett Cooney’s Insurance and Professional Liability Department Leader, who was included among the 2010 top 100 attorneys statewide. Kamenec is a member of the American Academy of Appellate Attorneys and a past “Lawyer of the Year,” as selected by Michigan Lawyers Weekly, a leading publication serving the state’s legal industry.
