If law enforcement officials wrote a song about the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, it would probably be titled: “I Walk the Line…” and Johnny Cash would, no doubt, be the best artist to sing it.

The Fourth Amendment, like the matters of the heart Cash sings about in his similarly named hit song from 1956, represents a wary subject for many in law enforcement, particularly with respect to home and auto searches. Walking the line can definitely be challenging!

This complimentary webinar was designed to benefit public safety officials, as well as elected and appointed public officials and their insurance providers. Some of Plunkett Cooney’s most experienced municipal attorneys covered the following topics:

  • Home entry with consent
  • Warrant-based home entry
  • Exigent circumstances
  • Curtilage issues
  • K-9 unit considerations
  • Auto stops/knock and talks
  • Passenger searches
  • Recreational marijuana issues

There was no cost, and the presenters answered as many questions as time permits.
