Bio
A member of the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office, Deanna McDermott primarily provides paralegal support in the area of commercial litigation, as well as in the areas of medical liability, appellate law, construction law, including claims against architects and engineers, product liability and litigation.
Ms. McDermott organizes and maintains document-intensive files and summarizes deposition transcripts, various records and discovery responses. She performs analyses of documents and legal and online research. She also interviews witnesses, drafts responses to discovery requests and performs document production reviews.
In addition, Ms. McDermott prepares attorneys for depositions and assists in their trial preparation, including the use of Trial Director in court.
Prior to joining Plunkett Cooney, Ms. McDermott worked part-time in a paralegal internship for a Northville-based sole practitioner who practiced in the area of family law. She also previously worked as a legal secretary for several Detroit-area law firms where she gained experience in bankruptcy, foreclosure, personal injury, auto negligence, medical malpractice, environmental law and product liability matters.
Ms. McDermott received her undergraduate degree from Madonna University in paralegal studies in 2008, where she received first honors as a member of the Dean's List and was selected as a member of the University's National Paralegal Honor Society.
