Michigan State Bar Foundation inducts Sheridan to 2024 Class of Fellows

09.09.2024

Timothy F. Sheridan, a senior trial attorney and partner of Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest law firms, was recently nominated for the Fellows Program of the Michigan State Bar Foundation (Foundation).

Established in 1984, the Fellows Program recognizes Michigan attorneys for their professional excellence and service to the community. The Fellows, of which there are over 1,500, are leaders who represent the highest traditions of the legal profession.

The Fellows Program supports the Foundation in providing leadership and grants to improve the administration of justice and the delivery of civil legal aid for low-income individuals and families. Since inception, the Fellows have contributed over $2.1 million to support the Foundation’s initiatives. The opportunity to join the Fellows is extended each year to a limited number of attorneys.

The managing partner of the firm’s Grand Rapids office, Sheridan has over 25 years of experience handling cases involving construction litigation; professional liability, including legal and accounting malpractice matters; trucking and transportation litigation; premises liability and products liability.

Sheridan is an ICLE certified civil mediator who has successfully mediated hundreds of matters in the areas of first-party No-Fault and third-party auto negligence litigation, premises liability disputes, construction site accidents and construction defect matters, legal and accounting malpractice cases, and commercial business disputes. In 2020, Grand Rapids magazine recognized Sheridan as one of its Top Mediation Attorneys in West Michigan.

Sheridan, who serves as the leader of Plunkett Cooney’s ADR Practice Group, is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, DRI, the Incorporated Society of Irish American Attorneys and the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel. He is also a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.

Admitted to practice in the state and federal courts in Michigan, Sheridan received his law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1993 and his undergraduate degree from the James Madison College at Michigan State University in 1988.

Plunkett Cooney was established in 1913 and is a leading provider of business and litigation services to public and private sector clients across a range of industries. The firm employs approximately 130 attorneys in seven Michigan cities, as well as in Chicago, Illinois, Columbus, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana.

Plunkett Cooney has achieved the highest rating (AV) awarded by Martindale-Hubbell, a leading, international directory of law firms and has received Mansfield Rule Certification for midsize law firms, which recognizes leaders in diversity, equity and inclusion within the legal industry.
