PDFPlunkett Cooney partner Corl among 2020 Ohio ‘Super Lawyers’
Ohio Super Lawyers magazine recently named Christina L. Corl of Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest law firms, to its 2020 list of Super Lawyers for Civil Litigation Defense.
The designation is based on nominations by Ohio attorneys, independent research by Super Lawyers to validate candidates and peer evaluation by practice area conducted by panelists from Thomson Reuters, which publishes Ohio Super Lawyers magazine. Those named to the list represent only five percent of the state’s licensed practitioners.
A member of Plunkett Cooney’s board of directors and co-leader of the firm’s Labor & Employment Law Practice Group, Corl focuses her litigation practice primarily on employer liability issues. She also has extensive experience in commercial litigation, Title IX claims, product liability, premises liability, professional liability and municipal law.
Corl’s clients include national retailers and corporations, governmental entities, nonprofit organizations and law enforcement personnel. She also had the distinction of serving as associate general counsel to the board of directors of the USA Track & Field Association and as associate general counsel to the National Fraternal Order of Police.
Additionally, Corl serves as special counsel to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. In this capacity, she represents The Ohio State University, Miami University and the University of Cincinnati in employment and Title IX disputes. Her special counsel duties extend to other state agencies, including the Ohio Department of Insurance, Department of Corrections and Secretary of State.
Corl, who is the managing partner of Plunkett Cooney’s Columbus office, has also received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer-review rating of AV Preeminent™. In addition, she has received the Most Powerful and Influential Woman Award from the Ohio Diversity Council, and she was recently recognized as an Ambassador for Diversity and Inclusion by the Greater Columbus Community Helping Hands. She is admitted to practice before the state and federal courts in Ohio and Michigan, in the state courts of Georgia and in the federal appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
A summa cum laude graduate of Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 1994, Corl graduated first in her class and received numerous academic accolades. She received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Western Michigan University in 1991.
Plunkett Cooney established its office in downtown Columbus, just blocks from the state capitol in January 2001. Members of the firm’s Columbus office provide a full-range of litigation and transactional services in the areas of banking and finance law, bankruptcy, corporate law, real estate law, insurance law, professional liability, title insurance, general and commercial litigation, personal injury, premises liability and employment law.
Established in 1913, Plunkett Cooney is a leading provider of business and litigation services to clients in the private and public sectors. The firm employs approximately 150 attorneys in seven Michigan cities, Chicago, Illinois, Columbus, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana.
