An Overview of Employment Law Issues Affecting Businesses in Michigan
Originally Held: Tuesday, March 22, 2016
Time: Noon to 1:15 p.m. (EST)
Cost: Complimentary
Topic Overview:
Human Resources (HR) is a multifaceted, necessary part of most organizations. HR is responsible for many different workplace needs ranging from hiring/firing to professional development to handling disciplinary actions. HR professionals can benefit from a periodic overview of the laws that impact Michigan employers.
HR pros should be familiar with the legalities relating to employee benefits, leaves of absences, disability accommodation, compensation and polygraph testing, to name a few. This webinar, which was designed as a high-level overview, will systematically organize employment and labor laws and discuss laws that are often overlooked.
Participants learned about state and federal laws that govern:
- Leaves of absences and how they interact
- Employee benefits and wages
- Light duty and accommodations to employees
- Civil rights that are often excluded
- Miscellaneous laws that HR professionals may never encountered
Intended Audience for this Webinar:
This webinar was designed primarily for junior- and mid-level human resource professionals. Corporate risk managers and commercial insurance providers should also find this webinar helpful in dealing with employment liability.
