Susan G. Kowal

Susan G. Kowal is a member of the firn's Banking, Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Practice Group, where she focuses her practice in the areas of loan workouts and foreclosures, as well as related litigation.

Ms. Kowal’s previous work experience includes real property law, commercial litigation, corporate law and banking law. She has handled foreclosures, appointment of receivers, rent assignments, loan guaranties and restructuring and deed-in-lieu of foreclosure arrangements.

Ms. Kowal has represented developers and property owners in acquiring, financing and other issues related to real property. She also has experience litigating regulatory compliance issues, trade and antitrust matters, breach of contract claims, unfair competition issues and business tort matters in state and federal courts.

Representative Client Work

• Assisted a developer in providing suitable zoning for proposed projects from opposing local municipal bodies
• Counseled developer in significant residential, retail and commercial development projects
• Represented several different commercial real estate lenders in multi-property loan workouts
• Counseled a tier-one automotive engine component company on its lender, real estate and supplier relationships
• Represented a local developer in the acquisition of large multi-tenant office building and later successfully settled for the client a dispute with the seller over alleged fraud issues related to the sale
• Represented major lending institutions in documenting and closing commercial real estate loans totaling millions of dollars
