Slade joins Plunkett Cooney to establish Indianapolis office

Veteran title insurance attorney Mary A. Slade recently joined Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest law firms, to establish a new firm office in Indianapolis, Indiana.

"We have a growing number of clients with business interests in and around Indiana, so this was a perfect opportunity to welcome Mary into the firm and establish an office in Indianapolis," said the firm's President and Chief Executive Officer, Henry B. Cooney. "Mary is an outstanding attorney with extensive in-house counsel experience, particularly within the title insurance industry, which is a core area of business for the firm."

Prior to joining Plunkett Cooney, Slade, a native of Indianapolis, worked for five years as Vice President, Regional Claims Counsel for Stewart Title Guaranty Company in Virginia where she investigated claims and assisted in managing class actions, transaction underwriting, market conduct exams, fraud and white-collar crime investigations, e-discovery compliance and all facets of direct litigation in 16 states and the District of Columbia.

Her previous work experience also includes four years as Associate Regional Claims Counsel for Chicago Title Insurance Company in Indianapolis, where she supervised claims personnel and investigations in Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia and western Pennsylvania. She handled complex commercial and residential development underwriting and claims, as well as white collar-crime investigations in Indiana.

A graduate of Indiana University School of Law, Slade is a member of several professional organizations, including the Indiana Land Title Association, where she previously served as the group's education chair.
